Description
A gentle drawing poultice made from raw grated potato used to reduce inflammation, swelling and to draw out splinters or pus from tender areas.
Benefits
- Raw potato’s high potassium and phosphorus make it alkaline, cooling inflamed tissues and neutralizing acidic conditions.
- Helps reduce swelling and pain from sprained joints, ingrown toenails, splinters and conjunctivitis.
- Safe for delicate areas like eyes and the genital region due to its mildness.
Preparation & Use
Grate a raw potato and spread a small amount on a piece of cloth. Fold the cloth into a flat poultice, leaving a margin of plastic or wrap around it to prevent leaking. Apply the poultice (single‑layer side down) to the inflamed area, secure with a bandage and leave for several hours or overnight. Replace if it becomes dry or wet. For splinters or deep puncture wounds, combine with alternating hot and cold water baths to encourage circulation.
